In just three short years, a new water company experienced a 5,000 percent growth. Waiakea Hawaiian Volcanic Water added their product to almost 2,000 stores in 30 different states in just one year. The company announced that because of that success, they would be launching a new manufacturing facility to meet demand.
Ryan Emmons, who founded Waiakea Water on a triple bottom platform, is proud of what his company has accomplished. Based on sustainability, charitable initiatives, and health, the company has successfully grown in leaps and bounds. Waiakea Water went from selling only a few cases of water a year to selling more than 120,000. What is even better is the fact that with that increase, over 500 million liters of clean water has been donated to African communities.
As part of the the company’s mission, Waiakea water teamed up with Pump Aid, an organization that helps underserved communities get clean, safe, drinking water. Waiakea donates 650 liters of water to Pump Aid for every liter of water they sell.
Waiakea spring is naturally alkaline, packed with electrolytes, and rich with minerals. Waiakea obtains their water from one of the planet’s purest sources and is even packaged entirely in recyclable materials.
On average, the company has experienced growth of around 170 percent a year, and is currently estimated at a value of over $10 million. They have made their product available in numerous premier chains across the country, and are starting to expand its borders on an international level. By working through their triple bottom platform, “Drink Healthy, Drink Sustainably, Drink Ethically,” Waiakea is the world’s greenest bottled water on Earth. It is also the most charitable. Their water begins as snowmelt and rain on top of the Mauna Loa volcano, on the Big Island of Hawaii. This water is filtered through thousands and thousands of feet of the volcano, which gives it its alkaline and mineral-rich properties.
Not only is the water from a natural, sustainable source, but Waiakea Water also boasts being one of the only water companies that are CarbonNeutral certified for its eco-initiatives. The water is packaged in products that completely made of recycled materials. They do all of this while still contributing their success to clean water access to nations around the world.
